BlackFemaleProject uplifts the voices of Black female professionals affirms their experiences and offers insights for achieving self-defined success in the workplace and beyond. Why do you believe in the mission of BlackFemaleProject?
I believe in the mission of BlackFemaleProject because it provides a safe space for Black women to be, to reflect, and to grow. Black women in America face challenges unique to us by our race and gender. Zora Neale Hurston wrote that "Black women are the mules of the world," noting the social constraints on being Black in America as well as being a woman, even amongst our Black men. This world is complex. Yet, there is a lot of peace, understanding, and feeling of belonging that can happen when like-minded Black women come together and share their experiences. It is an incredible bond that can help strengthen each of us on our journey on our (often isolated) individual career paths. I love the power and beauty of our collective of Black women. BlackFemaleProject brings our essence and strengths to the forefront.
Is there anything else that you’d like us to know or share with our community?
I love working to support BlackFemaleProject in its leadership, services, and events in service with other positive sisters.
