5th Annual Black Teacher Project Conversation
On March 11, 2020, we co-facilitated the 5th Annual Observed Conversation:Lifting Up Black Female Leaders in Education with the Black Teacher Project. We would like to thank the conversation participants Briana Clarke, Diane Johnson, Staci Smith, and Wendi Williams. Thank you to our programming partners at the Black Teacher Project, our gracious host the National Equity Project, and the attendees. Thank you! Each year these fishbowl-style events have been called ceremony and sacred. Why? Because we center the voices of Black women, with intentionality. This year, the women around the table discussed leadership in the education sector. Whether a classroom teacher, principal, or superintendent, Black women are bringing indispensable gifts to campuses and our communities. We explored our shared vision for the future, clarified narratives about teachers, and elevated the power of our profession.
