Reflections 2020 ASCEND: BLO Presentation Honor and Recap
CENTERING BLACK WOMEN’S VOICES:
A Leadership Strategy for Creating an Anti-Racist Workplace
In September of 2020, BlackFemaleProject was selected to present at the ASCEND:BLO Network Summit, Black Resilience: Building Power in the Bay.
We were honored to be in the company of representatives from over 300 Black-led, Bay Area-based organizations, and humbled to be one of a small group of organizations selected to lead a breakout session. Our session, “Centering Black Women’s Voices: A Leadership Strategy for Creating an Anti-Racist Workplace,” consisted of a presentation by Precious J. Stroud; Strategic Research Advisor, Dr. Tameka L. McGlawn; and BlackFemaleProject writer and editor, dana e. fitchett. We uplifted the findings from our inaugural impact report, Reflections 2020, and offered possible strategies and solutions that Black women and others can implement to improve workplace cultures specifically and to improve the professional experiences of Black women specifically.
Recognition by ASCEND:BLO confirms that BlackFemaleProject is meeting a specific and unique need in the marketplace. We are proud to be leaders in the crucial study of the lived experience and healing journey of Black women at work.
