BlackFemaleProject Voices

We launched an audio series called ‘Voices’ on the BlackFemaleProject blog. To kick-off the series we introduce Regina Jackson. Ms. Regina is President and CEO of the award winning East Oakland Youth Development Center, and was referred to the Project by Dania. W. Frink – thank you!

 

Deadlines Approaching

The inaugural BlackFemaleProject story collection will be shared next year. The final deadline to submit and to be interviewed is December 31, 2015.

Round 3
If you missed the September 30, 2015 deadline, please forward your entry as soon as possible to pstroud@pjsconsultants.net, or call to make special arrangements, 510.423.3404.

Round 4
The final deadline for the inaugural collection is December 31, 2015.

  • Would you like to be interviewed to expedite the writing process? (You’ll be provided a transcript of the interview to jump start your writing. Transcription fees do not exceed $120.)

Project Supporter Freda Statom for referral to the National Black Programming Consortium (NBPC). This summer NBPC's Executive Director Leslie Fields-Cruz provided in-kind workspace and access to their New York City facility to BlackFemaleProject Founder Precious Stroud. Staff were generous to share their knowledge and introduce Precious to the world of film and public media while challenging her to expand the vision and reach of the BlackFemaleProject. Project Contributor Fern A. Stroud for introduction to Ronnie B. who supported Precious and connected her to Alicia Meeks, left. Alicia hosted a Project Introduction in Bryant Park which led to Project participation and added layers to the evolving content for the story collection.

Etophia Lane, right, a public relations and event producer, is collaborating with Precious to curate a BlackFemaleProject Introduction in Brooklyn, NY. Also, introduced Precious to AfroStateofMind. Check her out!

Charmaine Mercer, below, for hosting the first East Coast Conversation in Washington D.C., an intergenerational and international conversation highlighted diversity among Black women. A rich conversation, the experience led Precious to build more structure into the Conversation format and to consider how to incorporate youth voice for 2016.

Also, Charmaine for introduction to Phill Branch creator of the documentary, ‘Searching for Shaniqua’ – a partnership with Phill is in development. (Thanks for making the time, Phill!)
