8 Weeks of Self-Discovery - What Participants are Saying

Given the complexities of 2020, we knew that we needed to offer our leadership development program, 8 Weeks of Self-Discovery. We had no idea the level of joy, healing, resolve, and sisterhood that would manifest for the women who participated and the women who worked to make it happen.

Offering live sessions weekly, we held space and dedicated time to better understand ourselves. We listened to podcasts, read stories, and learned from experts each week. Then, we discussed the topics and wrote about them in our journals to reinforce learning and personally explore each topic.

We are moving through a time that is requiring a deeper sense of consciousness. Being connected to others though collective experiences is one way to stay grounded as so many things around us shift, change, or remain uncertain.

One of the things that I take away from this group is just how important it is for us to have this space for us to be open to, you know, different ideas and different points of views. And some of the guests that we’ve had, they’ve just been so illuminating. And I felt at one point when I wasn’t very open, then all of a sudden my heart started to just open more and more.

The thing that I’ve learned in this time is, one, that being in affinity can be healing. Being in affinity hasn’t always been healing for me, but in this time it has been. And the second thing I learned is that...every space that I actively enter, I need healing to be a part of it.

I wasn’t even gonna get on the call today. Cause I was like, oh, I’m just overloaded. Have so much going on. My soul was like, girl, please don’t miss out on this gift that this has been for me. So thank you. I want to continue to work with BlackFemaleProject. I want to continue to represent who we are as Black females in the earth and connect with you all more and more. So it’s been a blessing. Thank you.

Our 8 Weeks of Self-Discovery tool will support you as you navigate the weeks and months ahead. Challenging times call for introspection and present an opportunity to get clear about our priorities and goals as well as what it will take to achieve them. If we utilize this unexpected time wisely,  we will come out of it with more tools and more clarity about our own individual desires and will be better able to contribute to the collective changes we seek.

Thanks to our programs team Ché Abram and Jasmine Brown and our 2020 guest facilitators: Dr. Cathia Walters-Knight, Dr. Tameka McGlawn, Fern Stroud, Debrah Giles, Vanessa Siverls, and E’Rika Chambers.
